Poker, also called “Texas Hold’em” and “live hongkong,” is played with four decks of cards, referred to as “pokers.” The object of the game is for the players to gain the most points by winning the pot when all of the pots are raised from the flop. A player may get five cards from the pot when the flop reveals a value higher than what was paid out, but not necessarily by winning the pot. In poker games, all pots raised are resolved upon the final call of the “flop.” If there is a draw after the flop, the pot is split between the two players who won the pot before the draw. These five cards are referred to as the “flop”, and the player can either call, raise, or fold. Calling raises means that the player bets the same amount as the amount rolled over the flop and calling raises is considered a risk because it will usually pay off if the opponent checks, but it will also cost the player money if the opponent doesn’t check. For example, if the opponent bets the total amount of the pot, and you call, then you’ve just raised them by the amount written on the card, which means your bet to start with was a “push”.
Draw Poker is a variation of Hold’em where the pot is kept in the center of the table instead of on the flop. When a player commits a “draw”, which is putting any card from the hand into the pot, they must leave it there until time’s end. Once all the players have rolled around and dealt with their hands, the pot will be revealed and everyone must decide whether or not they want to take it. If more than one player wants to take it, then the pot can change hands. In draw poker, if a player has drawn and pushes, then it is called a “draw”.
